COTA to Waive Transit Fares For All Veterans and Active Military on Veterans Day

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) will honor our nation’s veterans by waiving fares for all active and retired military personnel on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.

For customers to receive this benefit, they can provide military-issued identification to the transit operator when boarding, wear a veterans hat or article of clothing, or they can simply verbally identify as a veteran or member of the military. Fares will be waived for all veterans or active military on COTA’s fixed-route buses, COTA Mainstream ADA service, and COTA//Plus in Grove City, Westerville and South Columbus.

Anyone can plan their trip at COTA.com or by calling the COTA Customer Service Center at (614) 228-1776. The call center will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Veterans Day.

Veterans are eligible for a 50% discount on all fares every day. Veterans can apply for this benefit at the COTA Customer Experience Center, 33 North High Street during business hours. The benefit can be added to their Transit app account or they can be provided with a COTA Smartcard. Proof of veteran or active military status is required when applying for the benefit.
