Zoom To Boom: COTA Announces Extended Service Hours, Express Service For Customers During Red, White & Boom!
Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) will provide expanded transit to and from downtown Columbus for Red, White & BOOM! on Friday, July 1, with extended local service and Express Service from five Park & Ride locations.
Express Service to downtown Columbus from select Park & Ride locations will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 8:30 p.m. Cash, credit cards, C-pass and digital payment are all accepted at the Park & Ride locations, with speed lanes for customers who use the Transit app or COTA Smartcards.
Prior to the fireworks, there also will be an increased frequency of service traveling downtown on most fixed-route local lines until approximately 9:00 p.m., and service hours will be extended to at least midnight on downtown lines.
After the fireworks, COTA express lines and regular local service will leave downtown Columbus from designated Red, White & BOOM! boarding zones along High Street from State Street to Nationwide Boulevard at approximately 10:45 p.m., 11:30 p.m. and midnight. Times might vary depending on the timing of the fireworks display.
Boarding zones will be posted in downtown transit shelters and can be found at COTA.com/BOOM. Customers with questions can also look for COTA employees wearing branded red shirts.

REROUTES DURING RED, WHITE & BOOM!
Customers should expect multiple reroutes and delays, as many downtown streets will be closed. During Red, White & Boom, transit stops could be impacted by these closures, especially along High, Broad and Front Streets near the fireworks display.
Thursday, June 30 – Lines 4, 7, 11, 71, 72, 73, 74 and Zoo Bus will be rerouted near downtown.
Friday, July 1 – Lines 3, 6, 9 and 12 will be rerouted at 1:30 p.m. as roads will be closed to begin staging for the parade.
Friday, July 1 – Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 51, 61, 71, 74, 102, CMAX, and Zoo Bus will be rerouted from 5 p.m. to end of service day (midnight).
